Today NESTA announced the fantastic news that Brighton and Hove is one of 17 councils to have got through to the next stage of the ‘Creative Councils’ programme. We’ll be celebrating too, because the Democratic Society, Podnosh, Brighton & Hove Community and Voluntary Sector Forum and Public-i, have partnered Brighton and Hove in its bid.
The council will now receive some practical support in developing its idea, called ‘We live here’, before the surviving 17 bids are whittled down to a final five – to receive ‘considerable financial and non-financial support to put their ideas into practice’.
There were 137 applications – so getting through to this stage is a huge achievement in its own right – and something that all those involved, including Anthony Zacharzewski, Paul Brewer, Nick Booth and our own Catherine Howe, deserve enormous credit for.
