Networked Councillor: A presentation from Catherine

By May 9, 20133 Comments

At the recent Webcasting Open Day held by Cheshire West and Chester Council, Catherine gave a presentation on Networked Councillor. It is a great introduction to the concepts behind the Networked Councillor, so we thought it might be a good idea to share it here.

You can read more about the project over at the Networked Councillor blog, where Catherine has written a post explaining the thinking behind it. And there are posts here.

For those who are completely uninitiated, the project looks at what local politicians might need in terms of skills and support in the future. As Catherine says, the project was born out of two things:

  • If we are going to have more networked and digital citizens we are going to need politicians with the right skills – we will need networked councillors but we have not yet really explored what that means.
  • Just showing people how to use twitter doesn’t solve the problem.
