As anyone who’s seen the tweets on the #NHSCitizen hashtag will know, we are working with our friends at the Democratic Society and Involve to create the public conversation about the NHS England’s Citizen Assembly.
Next week NHS England will be holding an open, participatory event to further develop the plans for the Citizens’ Assembly – the body that will put citizens’ voices at the heart of NHS decision making.

On the 22nd and 23rd of October we’ll be talking about the design, the structure, function and governance of the Citizens’ Assembly. It will bring together people from across the health and care sectors and external experts on governance, transparency, open data and public engagement to start creating ways of extending participation beyond patient and expert groups into the wider community. This may be followed by a technology challenge day later in the year.
The event is invitation-only to ensure that the right mix of experience and knowledge is present but, as you would expect with an event we are involved in, it will be streamed live and include all the live chat happening online. All the materials will be shared online as well. It’s set to be a fascinating event and we hope you can get involved. All you need to do is visit our Connect Social site for the event.
