NHS Citizen – stage three begins!

By July 14, 2015No Comments

We’re really pleased to tell you that work on the next stage of NHS Citizen is now well under way. The new stage, Build, kicked off with the launch of NHS Citizen Gather last week.

Right now, citizens from all over the country have started to have their say on how the NHS can improve. You can find out more about this by reading our blog post. Discussions chosen from Gather by a Citizens’ Jury will feed into the next NHS Citizen Assembly, which will be taking place in November.

So what is Public-i doing in all of this?

As one of the four partner organisations commissioned by NHS England that make up the NHS Citizen team, Public-i will be leading the communications and engagement work of NHS Citizen. This work is – along with the other NHS Citizen work streams – central to growing the numbers of people participating and sharing their thoughts in NHS Citizen. Part of this is about exploring and understanding the social networks which exist (or could exist in the future) around participation in health. This sits really well with our research offering and utilises our skills in network analysis and social media research.

It’s a really exciting time for us at Public-i. Our team will be growing, with a communications office joining us to work on NHS Citizen. But more than that, we have seen the NHS Citizen project evolve into something really ground-breaking, and now we get to build on the momentum that has already gathered around the work.

We love working on this project and seeing citizens effect real change. It sounds corny but that’s what engagement is all about and it’s what motivates us.

We’ll be keeping you up to date on NHS Citizen on this blog. You can also keep up to date on the NHS Citizen Blog, or follow the project on Twitter – @NHSCitizen
